The Sacramento Irish American Dance Group was started in 1994, when it was noticed that the Irish folk dances were being forgotten. We offer a fun experience and a good workout for anyone interested in learning Irish folk dancing, both Ceili and Set.   IMPORTANT UPDATE!!: Starting in 2011 we will be meeting on new days at a new location. We offer classes every 1st and 3rd Monday at the Sierra 2 Center for Arts & Community (Studio 1). 2791 24th Street, Sacramento 95818. The classes run from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Ceili Dancing is not what is seen on Riverdance, but the folk dances done in the pubs and homes. Ceili is the Gaelic word for party, and we try to maintain that attitude at our classes. Our philosphy is "It is more important to have fun than do the steps exactly right!" We also do Set Dancing which, some believe, is the precurser to American Square Dancing. Come join the fun!
